Tips and race by race preview by Ray Hickson for Wednesday’s Warwick Farm meeting. Selections based on a soft track.

1. Blessed Eagle looked particularly sharp in winning his latest trial at Randwick, in a 1045m heat, and should be able to offset the barrier quickly and land on the speed. How much control he heads up front will dictate the outcome but should give a good account.

Dangers: 7. Profitabelle hit the line quite well on debut back in January then didn’t back it up in the Inglis Millennium. Plenty to like about her recent trial win and she looks the logical danger. 6. Artemex has been gelded going into this preparation. His two runs back in the autumn were okay and it’ll be interesting to see if the gear change sparks him up. 4. Watson’s Bay was a $1.5 million yearling and is on debut now with a couple of trials under his belt. Certainly drawn to have every chance and would be one to check the market about.

How to play it: Blessed Eagle WIN ($4.60 TAB Fixed Odds).

There’s quite a few raps on 14. Satin Serenade and we get to see if she lives up to them this spring. Just missed on debut back in June, freshened up and her latest trial win was impressive. She’s been well found in the market and is the one to beat.

Dangers: 8. Stateroom didn’t do a whole lot wrong at his only start a few weeks ago at Canterbury. Had a nice run and held his ground well into third, looking like he’d improve leaps and bounds out of the run. One to keep an eye on. 13. Queen’s Gamble wasn't helped by the draw initially but plenty of scratchings did plus it is a straight run to the turn. Left a sitting shot at Canterbury second-up and a win isn’t far away for her. 19. Whitehall is the $1.8m buy whose dam is a half-sister to Winx returning for his second campaign. Just fair before a spell but a trial winner leading in and may have improved.

How to play it: Satin Serenade WIN ($1.50 TAB Fixed Odds).

1. Columbus gets another chance after being a shade disappointing as an odds-on favourite at Rosehill. Perhaps he landed too close and wasn’t able to sprint with them. Looked impressive chasing them down prior to that, blinkers on and the mile should suit.

Dangers: 4. Deep Pleasure is bursting to win a race and just keeps bumping into one better. Hit the front three weeks ago at Kensington and was run down by Concordia Wind, who has won again since, she’ll be in this a long way. 6. Namaste tried hard behind Glissando, who led all the way, in a much improved third-up run and while he’s finding it hard to win he gets down in the weights here. 5. John Dory has been around the mark without winning as well. He was close up in the same race as Columbus at Rosehill and is an each-way chance.

How to play it: Columbus WIN ($2.30 TAB Fixed Odds).

4. Scenic Point is an interesting runner having her first start for Joe Pride. She’s a stakes winner who has been sparingly raced in the last 12 months but on the strength of her recent trial win she looks like she wants to be there. Market some pointer but worth keeping safe.

Dangers: 13. Uncertain Glory debuted with a handy win at this track in May then raced closer to the speed when placed at Randwick a couple of weeks late. Drawn out but expect she’ll be strong late. 3. Lull broke through for a handy win at Canterbury three weeks ago and now she’s found her form she could hold it. Same weight after the claim and drawn okay. 9. Bubbles Up won on debut then not too far away in BM72 grade in two subsequent runs. On pacer who can give a sight.

How to play it: Scenic Point WIN ($3.90 TAB Fixed Odds).

3. Mr Miller showed a heap of potential in his first preparation with a debut win at this track before seconds against some handy types. Couldn’t have missed him in his latest trial and from the good gate he’s going to be hard to beat fresh at a suitable trip.

Dangers: 9. It’s A Wonder will like the sting out of the track and her first-up run in a similar race a month ago was at least a pass mark on a good track. Each-way hope at odds. 7. Sociable has been consistent this time in but yet to break through in his five runs. Gets a nice smother from that inside gate and no surprise if he’s around the mark again. 1. Mazis is an interesting runner who built a handy record in Queensland last time in. Won a trial at Tamworth and has an each-way show.

How to play it: Mr Miller WIN ($1.45 TAB Fixed Odds).

5. Rantan doesn’t always have things go his way but this is the sort of race that should afford him every chance with good pressure engaged. Just failed last time at Kensington when running on strongly and if he gets last shot at them can be hard to hold out.

Dangers: 8. Manukau looks likely to sit back and make a run down the middle first-up. She was consistent last time in with a couple of wins splitting four seconds placings. Can run well again. 4. Valilee has looked sharp in his two trial wins leading into what is his toughest assignment. Hard to fault him with three wins from four starts and drawn to be prominent. Has to be respected. 9. Fierce is lightly raced and won his first two starts and was respectable in the other two. Seems to be trialling well and has a case.

How to play it: Rantan EACH-WAY ($8.50 TAB Fixed Odds).

12. Heroic Deed is jumping quickly in class but was super impressive in his first-up win at Newcastle where he sat outside the speed three wide and just raced away. Obviously this is harder but not by that much and no surprise if he repeats.

Dangers: 7. The Little General will put himself on speed from the wide gate. Just edged out two weeks ago at Canterbury and an extra 100m doesn’t pose any issues. If he lands on pace without too much effort he’ll give a good kick. 13. Olivia Twist found her form at the end of last preparation and resumed with a good effort running into second at Canterbury almost a month ago. Each-way chance again. 1. Couples Retreat comes back a notch from Saturday grade where she's been racing well, placing at Rosehill last time out.

How to play it: Heroic Deed WIN ($2.90 TAB Fixed Odds).
