Neil Evans' Tips For Hawkesbury (Tuesday)

By Neil Evans

Track Soft 7/Heavy 8 and rail out 2m from 800m to 400m, then true so on-pace early before levelling out

Race 1 PROV & CTRY MAIDEN HCP (1100m):

Competitive opener, with a stack of chances. Nowra gelding 2. Beaurama hasn't started for nearly a year, but won a recent open class trial in strong fashion from the front in Heavy 10 ground.

Dangers: Local 2YO filly 7. Night Flyer should be ready to peak third-up with the blinkers on after two solid runs back in stronger company, although some query if it gets too wet. Kembla-trained 3. Philanthropist also returns off a lengthy break, and chased Beaurama home in that same trial. Expect local filly 4. Our Blue Moon to improve again second-up after a solid return, although up in weight.

How to play it: Beaurama to win and quinella 2 and 7.

Race 2 MAIDEN PLATE (1100m):

A real pointer to the future here. Warwick Farm 2YO gelding 7. Destiny's Son (Husson x Predestined by King's Best) can make a statement on debut. Showed nice acceleration after a little slow out of the gates in winning a Rosehill trial with ease in soft ground. Draws nicely for form trainer and rider.

Dangers: Godolphin-trained 1. Canzonet resumes as a gelding with the blinkers going on, but looks ready after a strong trial win at Kembla where he sat well away from the fence and cruised through the line under a good hold. Keep watch at big odds on another debutant 2YO filly 8. Jetline (Uncle Mo x Scarletini by Bernadini) who has looked sharp in two trials, and stable has enjoyed a big season with its youngsters. Include Randwick filly 9. Pair Of Heels, by Cox Plate winner Adelaide, in exotics. Finished off nicely resuming at Gosford, and draws to get a nice trail behind the speed.

How to play it: Destiny's Son each way first four 1-7/1-2-7-8-9.

Race 3 2YO MAIDEN HCP (1300m):

Another open affair for the juveniles, with most on debut. US-bred Godolphin colt 4. Knickpoint (Carlton House x Klameth Falls by Storm Cat) looked good closing off in a Rosehill trial behind the highly rated Big Parade a month ago, and has reportedly been kept up to the mark. Bred to handle the ground.

Dangers: Stablemate colt 1. Secretively is easily the one with the most experienced after four solid runs this prep, and the obvious threat. Watch the market on Randwick gelding 8. Echo Lad who was run over this track second-up, but just sneaking down in the weights.

How to play it: Knickpoint each way and quinella 1 and 4.

Race 4 BM 64 HCP (1300m):

If 3YO Warwick Farm filly 7. Debate handles the ground, she's the horse to beat. Was competitive in tougher grade through the autumn, and has trialled twice in good company.

Dangers: Godolphin filly 5. Waka returns off two quiet trials, and should be hitting the line hard. Wasn't far off them in Listed company during the Melbourne spring; while local 3YO gelding 2. Bad Boy For Love did his best work late resuming over shorter trip, and improves getting to this distance second-up.

How to play it: Debate to win.

Race 5 3YO & UP MAIDEN PLATE (1300m):

Tricky race, but keen on 3YO Rosehill filly 7. Kiss And Tell third-up with the blinkers going on. Has found the line in two runs back, and should peak now in conditions to suit.

Dangers: Rosehill gelding 2. Blazing has made a nice start to his career chasing home the smart Sir Elton at Gosford on debut before overhauled late same track. Draws the fence but unknown in this ground. Godolphin filly 8. Mid Air beat Kiss And Tell home resuming this track, and gets a little turnaround in the weights, but wetter surface might be a disadvantage. Debutant Kembla 3YO gelding 3. Josephus (Nicconi x Carolyn's Star by Peintre Celebre) was right on the heels of Perigord in a recent home trial, and that horse has since scored an impressive first-up win. Query on Rosehill gelding 1. Alert The Press second-up in this ground. Didn't fire resuming when well backed, and carts 59kg.

How to play it: Kiss And Tell each way and trifecta 2-7-8/1-2-3-7-8.

Race 6 CL2 HCP (1600m):

Plenty of chances. Smart 3YO Randwick filly 8. Miss Louisiana is ready for this grade after bolting in a Class 1 at Kembla a month back. Has trialled strongly since, and shown a liking for rain-affected tracks.

Dangers: Newcastle 4YO gelding 1. Decroux was strong late third-up this track in a race with depth, and should be right on the mark fourth-up. Randwick 3YO filly 12. Smart Decision improved to bolt in her maiden third-up at Newcastle at a hot favourite but untested in these conditions; while Wyong mare 10. Moana Jewel has put together two strong closing efforts in weaker company, and draws the inside.

How to play it: Miss Louisiana to win and first four 1-8-12/1-8-10-12.

Miss Louisiana's trial at Randwick on June 14, since her last win

Race 7 BM 64 HCP (1800m):

Again a very open contest where pattern and luck will play a big part. Warwick Farm 3YO gelding 9. Fairy Me Home is on the rise. Sat at the back before sweeping home to win his maiden at Gosford with something in hand, and bred to handle the ground.

Dangers: Randwick gelding 4. Ladies' Gem has been hitting the line consistently since winning a weaker Class 1 this track five runs back. Newcastle filly 8. Dundee Lee is another who prefers wet tracks, but has been up for a long time and jumps in weight.

How to play it: Fairy Me Home each way and box exacta 4-8-9.
