Jockey Quotes - Hall Mark Stakes

The well supported Trekking arrived in time to win, find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 3 TAB Hall Mark Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick.

Kerrin McEvoy (Trekking): “He is an enjoyable horse to ride. James [Cummings] and the team have been patient with him, waiting for the dry ground. They got that today. We got the right run.

“We were able to just tuck in behind them. He copped a bump at about the 500m but he was still able to show his authority in the race after that.”

Tommy Berry (Brave Song): “We had to ride him the way we did, even Peter [Snowden] said before the race, it’s going to be hard to win from that position but that’s the way he races, he was full of running at the end, so his race isn’t too far away.”

Jason Collett (Music Magnate): “Never able to let him go, no room.”

James McDonald (Home Of The Brave): “He’s gone okay, he just needed the run like I thought, he’ll improve a lot off that.”

Josh Parr (Dothraki): “Never saw daylight, would have been hard to watch I’m sure.”

Hugh Bowman (Viridine): “He’s still work in progress, it was a good run, but he just needs to learn how to settle a bit early.”

Robbie Dolan (Easy Eddie): “He ran really well, get him back on a soft track and he would have been right up there with them.”

Blake Shinn (Tyzone): “Very unlucky, just couldn’t get a clear crack at them.”

Tim Clark (Redouble): “A PB for him, he’s returned in good order.”

Sam Clipperton (Camdus): “He’ll improve with the run, didn’t have a lot of room to work with early in the straight, but he ran okay.”

Corey Brown (Miss Que): “She actually ran really well, she drew bad so I elected to go forward and settle outside the lead. She boxed on well.”
