Gary Harley's Late Mail - Wyong (Tuesday)

Gary Harley

Locally trained four-year-old White Boots appeals as the bet of the day at the Wyong race meeting on Tuesday. Kim Waugh has three starters on the eight-race program and the three will be well fancied, however, White Boots is clearly the best.

The flashy chestnut will contest the final event, the Wyong Trainers Trophy Benchmark 70 (1600m). White Boots always puts in as his record of five wins and four placings from 10 starts suggests. Originally handicapped on 62½kg, White Boots will carry 59½kg after the claim for promising apprentice Billy Owen. He carried the same weight when a close third first-up on the Kensington Track recently.

Waugh’s 3yo filly So Very Vein resumes in the Men Care Too Provincial & Country Maiden Handicap (1100m). She trialled impressively at Wyong recently. The third of the Waugh trio, Joy For Us, was luckless last start has a chance in the Over The Line Racing Class 1 Handicap (1350m)

RACE 1 (GREAT NORTHERN ON TAP 2YO MAIDEN PLATE, 1350M): The Godolphin colt Promotions showed good speed when runner-up to Fiery Red in a recent Warwick Farm trial. He sat outside the winner and did not shirk his task. He debuts with blinkers and a lugging bit. Amore Amore failed first-up on the Kenso in a much stronger field but his trials prior to that run were okay. Fortress Command ran on strong in a recent trial and the 1350m is ideal.
SELECTIONS: 5 PROMOTIONS, 1 AMORE AMORE, 2 FORTRESS COMMAND

RACE 2 (DAMIEN LANE RACING STABLES CLASS 2, 1000M): Highly Desired resumes here after a couple of nice trials. He won two on the trot at Nowra and Muswellbrook before going for a spell and he won both races with ease. He was narrowly beaten by Dyslexic and Junglized in a recent Rosehill trial and he is an on-pacer. Partners is flying and is a front-runner with good form on this track. Silver Melody is a speedy filly with two wins and two seconds from five starts.
SELECTIONS: 3 HIGHLY DESIRED, 2 PARTNERS, 4 SILVER MELODY

RACE 3 (ALLAN DENHAM RACING STABLES B/M 64, 2100M): Dynamic Dynasty was strong to the line when winning an 1800 metre race at Bathurst last start. His Newcastle placings in December were full of merit and he was placed in his only start on this track. Heroic Fighter is a recent winner over 2000 at Bathurst and he has a chance while Bon Equus can improve in this class.
SELECTIONS: 4 DYNAMIC DYNASTY, 5 HEROIC FIGHTER, 1 BON EQUUS

RACE 4 (KIM WAUGH RACING STABLES MAIDEN, 1600M): Nicoya has been knocking on the door with recent placings at Newcastle and Nowra. She is a backmarker but the 1600m is ideal and this is a drop in class. Duchess Of Windsor hasn’t been far away in two Canberra runs recently and is crying out for 1600m. Lohan Princess could run into a place on her home track.
SELECTIONS: 7 NICOYA 2 DUCHESS OF WINDSOR 5 LOHAN PRINCESS

RACE 5 (KRISTEN BUCHANAN RACING STABLES MAIDEN PLATE, 1000M): Miss Antares resumes on the back of a blistering Warwick Farm trial win. She led by eight lengths in the trial and never shortened stride to win by close on nine lengths. She has never placed in five starts last prep but the spell has done her the world of good. Clara Et Moi wasn’t far away at Kembla first-up and Invincible Kiss was an easy trial winner here recently.
SELECTIONS: 6 MISS ANTARES, 4 CLARA ET MOI, 5 INVINCIBLE KISS

RACE 6 (MEN CARE TOO PROVINCIAL & COUNTRY MAIDEN, 1000M): So Very Veins race form last prep was not good, however, her recent trial was full of merit. The filly was three-quarters of a length from In Good Time and Invincible Gem in a recent Wyong trial. Avdulla rides and she has the rails barrier. Commute was in the market when beaten 5 lengths on the Kensington Track on debut recently and she drops in class. Pacific Legend is on debut after a good trial.
SELECTIONS: 8 SO VERY VEIN, 2 COMMUTE, 1 PACIFIC LEGEND

RACE 7 (OVER THE LINE RACING CLASS 1, 1350M): Lifetime Quest is a smart three-year-old with excellent form. He was runner-up in his first two starts at Scone and Gosford then he overcame a wide run to win easily at Gosford last start. Beidi was Warwick Farm-placed two runs back and he is fitter now. Paulo Pace looked good winning at Newcastle last start.
SELECTIONS: 2 LIFETIME QUEST, 1 BEIDI, 3 PAULO PLACE

RACE 8 (WYONG TRAINERS TROPHY B/M 70, 1600M): White Boots has a fine record with five wins and four placings from ten starts. He went well when third two lengths from the winner first-up on the Kensington Track. He has won second-up and the 3kg claim is a huge positive. Invicta won well at Newcastle last start and he is the main threat. Captain Manering is also a last start winner with a chance.
SELECTIONS: 1 WHITE BOOTS, 2 INVICTA, 3 CAPTAIN MANERING
