During routine veterinary inspections this morning of runners accepted in the Schweppes Sydney Cup to be run at Royal Randwick on Saturday (11th April), Campaldino (trained by Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott) was found to have cardiac arrhythmia.
Blood samples were taken from Campaldino, which will be analysed, including for cardiac troponin levels.
Mr Bott was advised that Campaldino will now be subject to the requirements of the Racing Australia Code of Practice relating to horses that have displayed a cardiac arrhythmia for the first time.
If the stable and Racing NSW Veterinarians are satisfied with the blood test results and the resting ECG, the horse will then undertake a 1000m gallop on Thursday morning in the presence of Racing NSW Officials.
