Vibrant Finally Receives Conditions To Suit At Wyong (Thurs)

By Gary Harley

Local filly Vibrant ($3.40 on TAB), runner-up in her past two starts, has bright prospects of breaking through in the opening event - the Former Members Of NSW Parliament Maiden Handicap (1100m) - at Thursday's Wyong race meeting.

Trained by Allan Denham the daughter of Not A Single Doubt has found the 900m trips too short in her past two starts and she will appreciate the 1100m. Vibrant gave the speedy Time For Peace four lengths start at Newcastle on May 1 before going down by half a length. Two starts back at Scone again she was beaten half a length behind the speedy Excelness.

The Newhaven Park 3-year-old Jimmy’s Dream ($2.70 favourite) trained by Gia Waterhouse and Adrian Bott is due for a change of luck in the My Local Broker 3YO Maiden Handicap (1350m). He has been placed in all five starts at Warwick Farm (2), Kensington Track, Newcastle and Goulburn.

Penalised for his consistency, Jimmy’s Dream was to carry 62kg, however, boom Scone apprentice Reece Jones has been booked and he claims 3kg. Another positive is the fact the gelding has the rails barrier.

RACE 1, FORMER MEMBERS OF NSW PARLIAMENT MAIDEN HANDICAP, 1100M: Vibrant has put the writing on the wall with close placings in her past two starts. Both times she found the 900m too short and she will appreciate the 1100m. The filly is bred to handle wet tracks. Thunder Rose ($6) has trialled okay since a distant second on debut at Gosford. Bitcoin Baby ($2.10 fav) had a quiet trial and has a chance.
SELECTIONS: 4 VIBRANT, 2 THUNDER ROSE, 5 BITCOIN BABY

RACE 2, MY LOCAL BROKER 3YO MAIDEN HANDICAP, 1350M: Jimmy’s Dream is due after five placings in five starts. On heavy tracks last winter he was narrowly beaten at Warwick Farm and on the Kensington Track. He steps up in trip and that is what he is looking for. Country apprentice Reece Jones has the mount and he has barrier one. Stablemate Crosscube ($5.50) is on debut after a nice trial and Supreme Leader ($4.40) was narrowly beaten at Newcastle last start.
SELECTIONS: 1 JIMMY’S DREAM, 2 CROSSCUBE, 3 SUPREME LEADER

RACE 3, REAL MAIDEN HANDICAP, 1100M: Barmera ($7) looked good winning a recent Rosehill trial. The I Am Invincible colt finished strongly after trailing the leaders into the straight. Sleipnir ($3.30 fav) was placed at Bendigo in his only start three weeks ago and he has Tommy Berry and the rails barrier. Selhurst Park ($3.40) has trialled okay.
SELECTIONS: 3 BARMERA, 1 SLEIPNIR, 6 SELHURST PARK

RACE 4, SWANSEA SMASH REPAIRS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE, 1100M: Deficit ($4.20 fav) is on debut after a nice trial in which he was narrowly beaten by Ranch Hand. Bred to handle a wet track, the son of Snitzel will have blinkers in his first start. He has the rails barrier and Tim Clark. Rocstar Boy ($7.50) was only two lengths away first-up at Newcastle recently. Kiss Sum ($5) had no luck in his only start at Muswellbrook recently.
SELECTIONS: 4 DEFICIT, 7 ROCSTAR BOY, 5 KISS SUM

RACE 5, WYONG RUGBY LEAGUE CLUB CLASS 1 HANDICAP, 1200M: Pia Sofia ($13) was an eye-catching run first-up on this track on April 29. She finished third less than a length from the winner after being well off the pace. Traminer ($8) will be fitter this time second-up and he raced well in October. Cream Rises ($2.90 fav) won impressively on debut at Gosford recently.
SELECTIONS: 9 PIA SOFIA, 1 TRAMINER, 2 CREAM RISES

RACE 6, THE BOBBI JO DILLON BENCHMARK 64,  1350M: Long Weekend ($4.40 fav) came from a long last to finish fourth over 1200m on this track on April 29. He was first-up that day and he had good form during the spring which included a close second on this track and a Kembla win. Buzz ($9) loves a wet track and he has good form here. Kariba ($7) is always thereabouts and she went well first-up.
SELECTIONS: 13 LONG WEEKEND, 1 BUZZ, 12 KARIBA

RACE 7, CENTRAL COAST COOLROOMS BENCHMARK 64, 1600M: Momack ($2.80 fav) is in good form but has to overcome a tricky draw. He finished strong to win at Muswellbrook two starts back and he was then a gallant second at Gosford last start. Squanto ($3.40) bolted in on this track last start and he will be hard to beat. Shamani ($6) has good form on this track and is a winner second-up.
SELECTIONS: 1 MOMACK, 2 SQUANTO, 7 SHAMANI
