J-Mac Heads To Wyong For Three Nice Rides (Tuesday)

By Gary Harley

James McDonald will travel to Wyong on Tuesday for three mounts and should kick off the day with a winner when he rides odds-on favourite Conrad ($1.65 favourite on TAB) in the opening event, The Australian Racing Christian Chaplaincy 2yo Maiden Plate (1200m).

The son of Japanese sire Maurice has only raced once for a close second at Canterbury on February 26. He was held up at the top of the straight and he was strong to the line. Kim Waugh trains the gelding and he has drawn okay.

J-Mac will ride the Chris Waller-trained filly Summer Breeze ($4.80) in the third event, the HMA maiden Plate (1350m). She closed off nicely when placed in a recent Rosehill trial. The Waller filly My Girl Ruby ($6.50) is the Kiwi’s mount in the 1350m Benchmark 64 Handicap. She was a Kembla Maiden winner in November and she was hard held in a recent trial.

RACE 1, AUSTRALIAN RACING CHRISTIAN CHAPLAINCY 2YO MAIDEN PLATE, 1200M: Conrad looks a good thing here after an unlucky second at Canterbury on debut on February 26. He won two trials before his debut run and McDonald rides. Big Fun ($6.50) has been transferred to the Snowdens since a close second on debut. The colt trialled nicely at Canterbury recently. Squeeze Dis ($9.50) is on debut and can fill a place.
SELECTIONS: 2 CONRAD, 1 BIG FUN, 10 SQUEEZE DIS

RACE 2, CARLTON DRAUGHT PROV & COUNTRY MAIDEN, 1200M: Maddison’s Missile ($2.50 fav) was beaten a half-length first-up at Goulburn on February 21. She was four wide no cover off the speed and she ground away in the last 200m. Accelerant ($2.70) has been placed in eight of 10 starts and he was narrowly beaten at Quirindi on February 19. Elusive Birdie ($5) ran on when second at Canberra on debut recently.
SELECTIONS: 8 MADDISON’S MISSILE, 1 ACCELERANT, 6 ELUSIVE BIRDIE

RACE 3, HMA MAIDEN PLATE 1350M: Not A Choice ($2.90 fav) is a speedy filly and she will appreciate the tight track. Vital Verse ($5.50) was narrowly beaten at Kembla first-up. Earl of Sandwich ($6) is first-up but has trialled well.
SELECTIONS: 7 NOT A CHOICE, 4 VITAL VERSE, 3 EARL OF SANDWICH

RACE 4, GO ELECTRICAL MAIDEN HANDICAP, 1000M: Stunning To Win ($4.60) was only beaten a length on debut at Gosford on February 24 after being slowly away. She raced keen early and mid-race before running on strong. Russbuss ($2.20 fav) has been placed in both starts this preparation and she has led in both. Readapt ($6) was narrowly beaten at Goulburn last start.
SELECTIONS: 4 STUNNING TO WIN, 8 RUSSBUSS, 5 READAPT

RACE 5, BOOK NOW POLYTRACK PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS MARCH 27, 1000M: Miss Kono ($4.80) is a very fast filly and both runs this preparation have been full of merit. First-up she bolted in with a 900m Newcastle maiden and last start she was slow away when a fast-finishing second in a 900m Class 1 at Scone. She was runner-up to the smart Triple Ace at Newcastle in October. Winside ($3.40) raced away with a Muswellbrook maiden in her only start in October. The filly cruised to a recent Muswellbrook trial win on February 10. Genkides ($2.30 fav) was an easy Goulburn maiden winner on February 16.
SELECTIONS: 4 MISS KONO, 7 WINSIDE, 3 GENKIDES

RACE 6, HUCKEL EXCAVATIONS BENCHMARK 68, 1600M: Casino Mondial ($3.70 fav) is knocking on the door after finishing second in a strong race at Newcastle lasts start. He has genuine speed as indicated at Newcastle when he led to the 200m. Mabel Josephine ($6) has had three starts in New South Wales for a win and two placings. Expect The Mediator ($4.20) to run well at his third run back.
SELECTIONS: 1 CASINO MONDIAL, 7 MABEL JOSEPHINE, 5 THE MEDIATOR

RACE 7, TAB.COM.AU BENCHMARK 64, 1350M: Safaris ($4.20 fav) has returned from a two-year injury enforced spell with two impressive wins. He was never on the track when he stormed home to win at Scone last start. My Girl Ruby ($6.50) resumes after a couple of quiet trials and she was a Kembla winner last prep. Provide ($5.50) led all the way to win at Newcastle last start.
SELECTIONS: 8 SAFARIS, 12 MY GIRL RUBY, 10 PROVIDE

RACE 8, WYONG’S NEXT RACEDAY MARCH 27 CLASS 1, 1200M: Edmond ($7) pulled up lame when down the track at Gosford first-up on February 13 but trialled nicely prior to that run. He won a Hawkesbury maiden in November and was runner-up at Newcastle in October. Hello Sunshine ($5) won by 7 lengths at Newcastle first-up. Impressive Lass ($6) won well last start but is unlikely as a rider has not been notified by the stable, the filly having run at Canberra on Monday.
