John Schell's Tips & Preview For Albury (Tuesday)

By John Schell

Selections based on a heavy track

Race 1 - 12:20PM SKYBRIDGE FINANCIAL MAIDEN PLATE (900 METRES)

4. Lord Of Valor finished last at this track on debut last November before having another start and improving to finish second here before being spelled. He resumed from a spell here on the back of a good trial at Corowa and looks set to pull out a good run fresh. 2. He’s Fierce has been placed in three of five starts and hit the line as well when a last start second at Corowa. Another forward showing is on the cards. 1. Aerial Artist ran fourth in the same race He’s Fierce contested last time out and must be considered again on that effort. 12. Vickie’s Dream finished third against He’s Fierce and Aerial Artist at Corowa and warrants respect.

How to play it: Lord Of Valor WIN.

Race 2 - 12:55PM NAUGHTIN DEVELOPMENT GROUP MAIDEN HANDICAP (1175 METRES)

10. Hot Toddy has had plenty of chances but has been racing well with placings at his latest two starts at this track and then at Wagga. He is consistent enough and looks to have the talent to break through in this. 11. Iroquai hasn’t been far away in her latest three starts and only needs to maintain that form to be a leading contender. 3. Tosen Fury was placed at this track at his second start in a race and another bold showing wouldn’t surprise. 1. Corays Road is on debut after a trial and bears close watching.

How to play it: Hot Toddy WIN.

Race 3 - 1:35PM ALBURY WODONGA PLASTERING SERVICES BM66 (1175 METRES)

3. Written By Lucy is a talented mate that has four wins from 12 starts and has won three of her last four runs. She’s a mare in form and if she can run up to her latest efforts she should take holding out again. 5. Bessie La Belle is a consistent performer with three wins and as many placings from 11 starts and resumes here from a long spell on the back of two good trials. 7. Dreamstone is a last start Wagga winner that has a solid record and shouldn’t be far away. 9. Altrove hasn’t been far away of late and only needs to maintain that form to be hard to hold out again.

2. The Big Shamrock is resuming from a long spell here and comes into this on the back of a Wodonga jump out and a Corowa trial. He’s a lightly raced seven-year-old with two wins and six placings from 15 starts. This looks a nice race for him to resume in. 4. Brial Rose ran well when resuming from a spell with a fourth at Wagga and can figure in the finish here with a repeat. 6. Needawinna win at Echuca back in March and hasn’t been far away in three starts since. 5. I’m Airborne has been racing well of late and can make an impact again on the strength of his latest form.

Bifurcation was a Muswellbrook winner in April and then went to a new stable and was midfield at this track when last produced. 2. Risky Whisky is lightly raced with a good record and comes here after a last start Corowa second.
