Goulburn hosts its final meeting for the season on Friday with the eight-race card offering a number of last chance opportunities for premiership aspirants.

Keagan Latham’s recent winning treble at the tablelands track highlighted why he clearly leads the senior rider ratings but the apprentice’s title remains a race in three.

Glenn Cahill (20), Teaghan Martin (19) and Dale Cole (17) are within three points of each other and have enough rides on Friday for the result to swing any of three ways.

Cole already has three winners for July and looks capable of firing an early salvo on Peace Bird ($2.15F TAB Fixed Odds) for the Ciaron Maher camp in Race 1 the Swiftwood Tiles & Bathrooms Maiden Handicap (1300m). He also rides recent trial winner River Mersey in Race 6 ($3.60) the RJ Sidney Craig Country Boosted Maiden Plate (1100m).

The young hoop pleased with the season for many reasons.

"I think it’s been a positive first full season for me, I’m happy with how it’s gone so far and finishing it off strong with a few more winners would be nice," Cole offered.

"A highlight was winning the rising star series after making it a goal at the start of the season.

"I’m happy I’ve been able to overcome the accident and come out the other side of it in good shape and be competing without any issues."

In the training ranks Danny Williams holds sway but is without a runner on the day so will have to watch and wait as Matthew Dale presents three hopes in an effort to snatch the number one spot.

Dale's quaddie players include River Mersey (Race 6) and Kendalia (Race 8), both rate highly in early TAB Fixed Odds markets at $3.60 and $4.60 respectively.

The Tash Burleigh trained Molteuno is a dual acceptor on the day and shares top billing with Rileycat (Pat Murphy) in Goulburn's horse of the year category.

A top three result in Race 7, The Abernethy Gore Solicitors Class 3 Handicap (1100m) would be enough for Molteuno ($8.50 TAB) to edge clear.

"We are happy with Molteuno! We hope for a lucky run from an unlucky barrier over the 1100. She is working well and will enjoy being back at her home track," Burleigh confirmed.

The mare’s breakout campaign has been full of highlights for connections, netting two wins, a runner up result and hoof prints on city tracks via a Highway Handicap and midweek outing.

Burleigh looks capable of a stable strike to close out the season with another four competitive acceptors backing up Molteuno on her home track including: Kisses For Jody $18 (Race 4 – Robyn Freeman), Miss Leeway $12 (Race 5 - Robyn Freeman), Corio Willow $101 (Race 5 – Jess Taylor)and Lookin’ Suave Harv $19 (Race 6 – Adrian Layt).

"We have drawn favourably with Miss Leeway, if we can get some cover, I hope to see her race as well as she's been working. 'Harvey' may optionally be nearing the end of his prep, but we hope he can go out with a bang."

Goulburn Race Club would like to extend its sincere thanks to all industry participants who have raced at and supported the club during the 25/26 racing season.

Goulburn’s track is currently rated a Soft 5 with dry conditions forecast for Thursday and Friday.
