Appeal By Licensed Jockey Hugh Bowman

Licensed jockey Hugh Bowman lodged an appeal against penalty after being found guilty by Racing NSW Stewards under AR137(a) after his ride on Tswalu in Race 5 (TAB Rewards Handicap, 1200m) at Warwick Farm Racecourse on Friday, 26 January 2018.

On this date, Mr Bowman was suspended for a period commencing on Sunday, 4 February 2018 and to expire on Thursday, 15 February 2018, on which day he may resume riding.

Upon application by jockey Bowman, Racing NSW Stewards amended the terms of the suspension and his licence to ride in races is now suspended for a period to commence on 29 January 2018 and to expire on 10 February 2018 on which day he may ride.

This appeal was heard on Monday, 5 February at the offices of Racing NSW commencing at 11am.

 The Appeal Panel gave the following orders:

  1. Appeal against severity of penalty dismissed
  2. Penalty of a seven-meeting suspension confirmed
  3. Such penalty commenced on 29 January and expires on 10 February, on which day the appellant may ride
  4. Appeal deposit forfeited
