At Racing NSW we look to foster and develop staff both within Racing NSW and across the industry including new entrants to the Talent Identification Program.
We support and encourage staff through our induction and mentoring program and continuing education.
In conjunction with the Australian Training Company we also offer traineeships as a Stipendiary Steward, Licensing and Registration.
These are offered usually biannually, through organisations such as the Australian Training Company (tel. 02 - 8741 0116) that place applicants with us, as the host organisation.
Whilst traineeships do not guarantee a permanent appointment after completion, trainees who show ability and potential are usually successfully appointed. Many of our Stewards have started their career this way.
Cadetships are also offered from time to time, to applicants who show great promise, and perhaps are more mature, having completed tertiary studies and worked elsewhere.
Traineeships are highly sought after positions, where overall skills and experience are critical to the selection process. Successful applicants demonstrate knowledge and experience in many facets, some of which are listed on our web page Tips for Working at Racing NSW .
Alternately some of our staff - particularly some of our stewards - have started their careers interstate before being appointed to the NSW Panel.
Other applicants successfully enter the industry through race clubs such as the Australian Jockey Club or Sydney Turf Club.
We also encourage traineeships in the industry through licensed employers as trackwork riders and stablehands and educational programs using providers such as TAFE NSW. These are organised through our Industry Training department.
At Racing NSW we are constantly looking for the right people to join the industry.
