Winx & Chautauqua Headline A Fantastic Day Of Racing

The Sydney Spring Carnival will move to Royal Randwick this Saturday, 16 September for Colgate Optic White Stakes Day, where queen of the turf, Winx will run in the opening Group 1 event of the Sydney season.

Opening as the $1.08 TAB Fixed Odds favourite in the Group 1 $500,000 Colgate Optic White Stakes, Chris Waller-trained Winx will be looking to secure her twentieth consecutive win.

Patrons will be able to support the super mare, by collecting a free Winx flag from promotional staff around the course. Winx caps and stubbie holders will also be available for purchase at various bars throughout both the general public areas and Members Reserve.

The world’s highest rated sprinter, Chautauqua is one of four confirmed runners in the $10 million The Everest who will run in the Group 2 $200,000 Bowermans Office Furniture Shorts.

Recently announced Redzel, who will represent James Harron Bloodstock in The Everest, is the $2.70 TAB Fixed Odds favourite.

The gelding, trained by Peter and Paul Snowden, has claimed a hat-trick of wins in the lead up to this run, including his 2 length success in the Group 3 Concorde Stakes on 2 September.

Chautauqua sits on the second line of betting ($3.50 TAB Fixed Odds) for Hawkes Racing, will return to the track for the first time since winning his third Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes in autumn.

English ($3.70 TAB Fixed Odds), trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, and Fell Swoop ($11.00 TAB Fixed Odds), trained by Matthew Dale, will also contest the sprint and have each completed two barrier trials ahead of this race.

Another of Sydney’s glamour girls, E! News presenter Ksenija Lukich, will be looking to join the limelight, when she showcases all of the trackside action via the Unpredictaheel.

Lukich, in partnership with Lady Gaga’s footwear designer Kira Goodey, and Melbourne tech specialists ‘AIRBAG,’ have created the first wearable tech heels to assist the wearer to navigate their way through a day trackside.

The Unpredictaheel’s innovative features include the BetGuide; pulsating heel to navigate to the betting ring, RaceAlert; vibrating alerts two minutes prior to a race start and, Tap&Go; to book a car home.

Elsewhere on course, ATCtv host Abbey Gelmi will judge the Splash Of Red Competition. Entrants are to incorporate a red to their race day ensemble and be spotted by Fashion Officials throughout the day to win a $1000 Westfield Gift Card and a Colgate Optic White pack.

For guests wanting to make their race day more memorable, a Colgate Optic White gif swing will be located on the Octagonal Lawn for photo opportunities, and for all wanting to showcase their pearly whites, the Colgate Optic White Smile competition is offering a $2000 Gift Card.

Roaming Colgate brand ambassadors will also be selecting people around the track to be hosted in the Colgate Optic White Smile Lounge and Sky Platform on the Leger Lawn. Guests, including Colgate ambassador Jennifer Hawkins, will be treated to complimentary beverages and a birds-eye view of the racing action.

Racegoers are able to celebrate all of the colour and excitement of spring racing at an affordable price when pre-purchasing their tickets. Patrons who buy five general admission tickets will receive the sixth free for only $75 theRaces.com.au.

All valid pre-purchased tickets and ATC Members cards include free transport NSW services to ensure a hassle free arrival and departure from Royal Randwick.

Gates Open at 11.00am with the first race at 12.15pm.

Free car parking is available at the racecourse and buses will run between Eddy Avenue at Central Station and Royal Randwick racecourse.
